The bullfighting season begins in earnest when the fairs start. The first major "feria" is that of Seville in April, so if you find out when your local town or city has its "feria" then you find bullfights. Generally the bullfighting season extends from Spring to Autumn each year, but there are exceptions (perhaps benefit bullfights that are not considered mainstream.)

Feria de Abril de Sevilla: la Real Maestranza de Sevilla

The famous silences, “silencios” de la Maestranza, of the bullring called the Maestranza, can make or break a bullfighter. If the public remains quiet, it is tantamount to punishment with indifference, but if the torero pleases the crowd, he can launch himself into fame for years to come.

Seville: during May and June, there are the traditional novilladas in La Real Maestranza de Sevilla

Five quality bullfights in a superb bullring from 1880 in a neomudéjar style. After the third bull, there is a pause for drinks....

AUGUST

Plaza de La Malagueta (1876) in Málaga. Half way through the month, there is the so called “Feria del Sur de Europa.” As they say... an ear cut in Malaga is an ear cut by law. A demanding and knowledgeable audience.

Mijas, Fuengirola, Puerto Banús, Marbella, Benalmádena, Torremolinos and Estepona.

These are tourist bullfights but with quality...tourist in the sense that there are more foreigners attending than enthusiasts, thus giving a different feel to audience reactions.

Plaza de Cabra Priego de Córdoba. The feria takes place during the first week of the month.

The Ronda school was founded by Pedro Romero, "father" of tauromaquia, and Antonio Ordóñez the classical purist style...

Plaza de Pozoblanco, where Francisco Rivera “Paquirri” died in1984.

Plaza de Linares in Jaen (1880). This bullring witnessed the death in 1947 of one of the most elegant bullfighters of all time.... Manolete.

Sevilla. The feria de San Miguel en la Real Maestranza brings September to a close with first class toreros.
