...my shoes are not wide. I actually have a narrow foot. I wear size 9 or 9.5 American. I just checked my shoes from Spain and they are a 40. So 8.5 is probably about a 38, I'd guess. My shoes run narrow, which is why I could wear them. All the other shoes I tried on in Spain were too wide. Hope this helps!!

Spanish size: 40 is approx 10.6inches. UKsize: 6.5. US: 10.

Sizes are (in Spanish) 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 - you will need to know your Spanish size when ordering or tell us length of foot in cms. The usual size is 38 or 39 for a medium build.

Inside shoe measurements in centimetres:
spanish size 35 is approx 22.5 / 23 cms
spanish size 36 is approx 23.5 to 24 cms

spanish size 37 is 24.5 to 25 cms
spanish size 38 is 25.5 to 26 cms

spanish size 39 is approx 26 cms
spanish size 40 is approx 26.5 cms
spanish size 41 is approx 27 cms

These are approximations. There are variations in sizes between different makers.

Rough guide for US enquiries:

Spanish size 40 is roughly US size 10 (rather than US size 9) but for most people US size 9 will be a European size 39 and not a 40. If in doubt, please indicate length of foot in cms.
